How are the Beauty Icon Award winners chosen?

The 2026 Harper’s Bazaar Beauty Icons were selected by our team of expert beauty editors: beauty director Jenna Rosenstein , market and commerce editor Katie Intner , and beauty commerce editor Tiffany Dodson Davis . To determine the most innovative beauty launches of the year, we tested hundreds of products over the last 12 months—with varying degrees of success—to find the ones that meet our rigorous standards. To win a spot on this coveted list, the Beauty Icons needed to contain the latest in cutting-edge technology, research-based science, make our day-to-day routines easier, and/or solve a unique or new problem. We tested the products across different skin and hair types, as well as ages, to ensure they worked equally well across the board. We also interviewed dozens of skincare, haircare, and makeup experts—as well as brand founders—to discover what's trending in product development.
