Airbnb has talked for years about becoming an AI concierge. Now Brian Chesky has put a 2027 date on it — and he says the interface won’t look like a typical chatbot.
Airbnb will launch its own AI agent next year, CEO Brian Chesky said at Skift Global Forum on Wednesday, putting a firm 2027 timetable on an ambition he has discussed publicly for years.
“I’ve said this, and now you can hold me to a statement: Next year we will launch our agent,” Chesky said. He added that the new interface would be “much richer than a chatbot.”
The distinction matters. Chesky has previously described Airbnb’s future as an “agentic app” and an eventual AI concierge.
On the company’s August earnings call, he said that within roughly 12 to 18 months, travelers would be able to come to Airbnb with a broad request — such as planning a family trip to Europe — and have the platform help put the trip together.
