Expedia filed a WARN notice in Washington eliminating 58 jobs, including executive positions and data science roles. The reorganization reached Illinois and Florida too.
Expedia is cutting 58 roles in Seattle, according to a Washington WARN notice filed this week, with the layoffs set to take place between November 21 and December 1.
The notice details where some reductions are landing: It lists several senior roles, including an SVP position that Skift previously reported in August. Of 31 total technical positions, 18 are in data science and machine learning.
In a statement, Expedia characterized the cuts as streamlining efforts, mainly related to finance.
“We are continuing to look across the organization for ways to simplify how we work. Our Global Finance team is making some changes, mostly to simplify their org structure,” the statement read. “Some employees are moving to new roles or locations, and some roles are being eliminated. We know change can be difficult, and we’re committed to supporting every employee through it.”
