We have two wines from Dunnes Stores this week. I have featured Gavi before – Aldi does a good one for €9.99. The Enzo Bartoli Gavi is a step up in quality and price and offers good value at €13.20. Gavi is a light, crisp, dry white wine that comes from the Piemonte region in northwest Italy. The grape variety is cortese.
The Artesano is made with grapes sourced from an organically farmed vineyard in Mendoza. In Argentina, malbec typically produces full-bodied wines laden with dark fruits. They go very well with all kinds of red meat, including a local favourite, barbecued beef.
A refreshing white wine with mouth-watering green apple and lemon zest, finishing dry. This would make a nice aperitif, or you could serve it with lighter fish dishes.
This is powerful and rich with plenty of ripe plum and blueberry fruits edged with an attractive spicy note. The finish is round and smooth. A steak would be the obvious choice, but grilled lamb or a rich bean stew would do nicely too.
