Navi Mumbai says it has capacity, infrastructure, a transit hotel, a road network to reach the airport. What it needs now is international passengers.

India’s civil aviation ministry Tuesday asked Adani Airport Holdings, owner of the Mumbai Airport and Navi Mumbai Airport, to hold off on its plan to move a portion of international flights from Mumbai’s Terminal 2 to Navi Mumbai, giving airlines and the airport operator some time to work out a transition plan, sources told Skift.

The intervention, however, does not signal a reversal of the plan. The ministry has asked airlines and Adani Airport to submit a firm roadmap for moving operations to Navi Mumbai, with the next meeting scheduled for October 13 and another expected by October 20 to finalize the plan, sources said.
