Banana Republic presents The Agency , a series that follows the fictional travel agency “Travel & Tours.” Starring Jack Innanen of Adults , the short videos playfully connect with the brand’s roots in travel and storytelling. It’s a five-part series that documents the modernization of the travel agency, the caveat being that Innanen plays four employees of Travel & Tours. He skillfully brings each character to life from an insecure manager to the head of the European desk whose last trip to Europe was in 1998. In addition to the many roles Innanen plays, writer and actor Milo Tucker-Meyer joins the cast as an intern while comedian Taylor Ortega is cast as Dana, a corporate consultant.
Each character Innanen steps into is characterized by a particular style. Ronald of the European Desk dresses in leather and tidy trousers. Barry is the cruise expert wearing linen and a navy cashmere sweater. Dean of the Adventure Desk wears pieces from the Archive Reissue collection, an ode to the adventurous nature of Banana Republic. It manages to stay playful while showcasing the breadth of style within Banana Republic.
The pilot opens with the arrival of Dana, the corporate consultant, as she quickly realizes the agency needs some serious modernizations. This doesn’t happen so easily as chaos soon erupts. The eccentric and charming cast makes for an entertaining scene, however dysfunctional. The storyline pays tribute to the heritage of Banana Republic while also serving as a snapshot of the human experience, each character imperfectly themselves.
