Khaled AlShehhi appointed Secretary General of RAK’s Executive Council

Khaled AlShehhi has been appointed the Secretary General of the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah , taking on a senior leadership role focused on translating the emirate’s leadership vision into government-wide progress.

In his new role, AlShehhi will lead the General Secretariat of the Executive Council , with a mandate covering government strategy, public policy, performance, institutional transformation and future readiness .

Commenting on his appointment, Khaled AlShehhi , Secretary General of the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah , said, “Creativity is not decoration. It is how you understand a problem properly, ask a better question and bring the right people to the table. Government needs that as much as any brand does. It is the mindset I bring to Ras Al Khaimah, alongside the rigour the work demands.”

He added, “I am honoured by the confidence of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council. The responsibility is to turn their vision into lasting progress, working with colleagues across government, and to be judged by what we actually deliver for people.”

The appointment marks AlShehhi’s move from the UAE Government Media Office , where he served as Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and played a key role in building the entity’s creative reputation, while strengthening the role of government communications within the wider marketing, media and creative industry.

AlShehhi’s appointment also comes after a period of significant recognition from the regional and global creative industry.

The move comes days after the UAE Government Media Office was honoured on stage at the Dubai Lynx 2026 Awards as the first government body to be named Advertiser of the Year at Dubai Lynx . The timing is hard to miss: a landmark honour for the Office arrives just as AlShehhi takes up his new role. He leaves it at its peak.

Reflecting on the UAE Government Media Office’s Dubai Lynx recognition, AlShehhi said: “This recognition means a great deal to me. I know the effort behind the work, and the trust it took to back bold ideas. I am proud of what we built together, with the Office’s leadership, our team and our partners.”

AlShehhi also previously made history at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity by becoming the first-ever government sector representative from across the globe to be chosen as a juror on the prestigious PR Lions Awards Jury in the festival’s 72-year history.

He was named Marketer of the Year – the highest honour at Campaign Middle East ’s Marketing Game Changers Awards 2025. He is not a public servant who admires creativity from a distance. He is one of its own, now helping to steer a government.

As Ras Al Khaimah continues to advance its economic and tourism ambitions, AlShehhi said the creative industry has a role to play in shaping the emirate’s next chapter.

AlShehhi remains committed to the growth and progress of the regional brand, marketing and larger creative economy in the UAE.

“The creative industry will always have an advocate in me,” he concluded. “Ras Al Khaimah has the ambition to grow and a strong identity to build on. Its people, its heritage and its landscape give it a character of its own. I want our industry to be part of that story. Come to Ras Al Khaimah, meet its people, and bring your ideas. There…
