Hum, photo by Chris Green Comment Loader Save Story Save this story Comment Loader Save Story Save this story Veteran Illinois shoegaze band Hum have announced a 2027 tour, their first proper run since 2015. The U.S. treck kicks off in Atlanta in March, stopping in Austin, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Seattle, and more before concluding in San Francisco in July. All dates will feature support from Kansas City’s the Life and Times , while Chicago post-hardcore band Pelican and Brooklyn trio Spotlights will open on East and West Coast dates, respectively. Check out a full itinerary below.
The shows build upon Hum’s well-received headlining sets earlier this year at traveling shoegaze festival Slide Away, where they shared top billing with Chapterhouse and Nothing. Those dates were Hum’s first shows in nearly seven years, a hiatus that also encompassed the death of original drummer Bryan St. Pere in 2021. Shiner’s Jason Gerken, who joined the group on drums during their 2015 tour and at Slide Away, will return to the kit for the forthcoming dates.
Hum’s Slide Away sets marked the first time the band performed songs from their 2020 album Inlet live. Prior to that release, they hadn’t shared a record since 1997’s Downward Is Heavenward , which followed 1995’s You’d Prefer An Astronaut and their 1993 debut Electra 2000.
