Ducati's Diavel V4 and V4 S get an update for 2027 with electronic suspension and other goodies

Ducati are introducing subtle updates to their Diavel V4 for 2027, as well as introducing a new S model variant with additional technology and added customisation.

As before, performance comes courtesy of the 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine, with a claimed 165.7bhp fed to the ground through the vast 240mm Pirelli rear tyre that’s held in place via a single-sided swingarm.

It retains the same imposing look as before, however Ducati have introduced new air intakes said to be inspired by those fitted to the ballistic Diavel RS .

Lining up against rivals including the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R, the Diavel gets a new electronic management system for 2027 that’s said to make throttle response smoother at low to medium engine speeds, plus a new quickshifter for more precise changes.

The S model takes things a step further and will be fitted with Öhlins Smart EC3 electronic suspension, which takes information from the IMU and other data points to continuously adjust during braking, acceleration, and cornering.

Three suspension modes come as standard, with the system replacing the base bike’s manually adjusted tree-trunk-like 50mm front forks and mono shock. Without its 20 litres of fuel, the S is said to come in at 222kg, with a shared seat height of 790mm across both bikes.

Modes and rider aids are controlled via a 6.9in colour TFT dash, with cruise control coming as standard equipment. The S goes further with heated grips as part of the asking price, as well as a lighter lithium-ion battery.

Away from the technology, owners of the 2027 Diavel will also be able to make use of the Ducati Factory Made program in order to take their bikes to new levels of personalisation.

For the S variant, this is further expanded to include special Ducati Corse and Performance liveries, as well as five colour options from supercar sister brand, Lamborghini.

Riders will be able to choose between wheels, seat designs, and accessories including a dry clutch for that authentic rattling Ducati sound of yesteryear. Bikes will arrive in Italian dealers first from January.

I’ve been expecting a Diavel V4 S model for some time now. The inclusion of electronic suspension is likely to complement the laid-back cruiser stance nicely, as well as helping riders to tame more of that V4 engine’s intoxicating punch across the rev range.
