Beloved French Brand Coperni Is Shutting Down

News we always hate to report… Coperni is shutting down operations after eight years in business. The French brand announced in a statement on Instagram today that they’ll be closing due to an almost year-long conflict with their distributor and shareholder, Tomorrow Ltd., involving unpaid sums.

The brand has been run by cofounders and creative directors Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer. Their statement noted that despite their efforts, no solution could be found. “It is with profound sadness that we announce today that Coperni SAS is ceasing operations.” The message continued, ‘Coperni existed because of you… Thank you for bringing this brand to life, far beyond anything the two of us could have achieved alone. We are proud of what we have created together and happy to have shared this story with you.”

Coperni opened doors in 2013 with Meyer handling creative duties and Vaillant running the business. The brand received instant recognition, winning ANDAM’s Creative Label Prize in 2014 and becoming a finalist for the LVMH Prize a year later. They then become the artistic directors of Courrège for two years and relaunched Coperni in 2018.

The brand created some incredible viral moments in their short life including Bella Hadid’s 2022 moment where she came onstage in only a nude thong and men sprayed her to create a dress formed on her body. The brand also held a 2025 show at Disneyland Paris with Kylie Jenner on the runway.
