Southwest Airlines saw revenue jump to a record of $8.4 billion — a 16.4% increase — in the second quarter as the carrier increased airfares and baggage fees to offset fuel costs.

CEO Bob Jordan said in a statement that the airline would focus on its network, products, and pricing to further “optimize” earnings potential. He also attributed Southwest’s profits to the significant changes it has made to its business model in the past two years.
