Anglesey Circuit in Wales was awash with some of the world’s best motorcycle riders this past weekend as the FIM Trial GP rolled into town alongside a brand-new three-day Moto Fest celebration – offering road and circuit test rides, adventure bike experiences, guest talks from the likes of John McGuinness , and much more. MCN was there for the duration, and acted as media partner for the event.
Running from July 24-26 at the stunning coastal circuit, visitors were treated to a masterclass in motorcycle control from 39-time world champion Toni Bou – who took the overall win after tackling huge rockery sections in the track paddock, as well as a series of jagged, rock pool laden runs across the picturesque Anglesey coastline.
“It’s been a really complete weekend, with us taking the maximum possible points,” Bou said following the victory. “I’m very happy with how everything is going this season.”
Visitors to the Moto Fest event could watch the trials action at no extra cost, with a full weekend ticket including two nights of camping priced at £95.
On top of this, there was the chance to sample the latest new metal from Triumph , Norton , Kawasaki , BMW , Moto Morini, Hero, and more – with racing legends including James Whitham, John McGuinness, Storm Stacey , and Dan Linfoot on hand to entertain fans across a series of live stage talks.
“I got up early this morning quite excited because it’s a good place,” McGuinness told MCN on the Saturday. “This track – you very rarely get to it – and the drive down was nice, pulling into the circuit was nice, and there’s loads of camping, loads of enthusiasm.
“I’ve been down watching the trials and the top GP boys were just another level. It’s pretty gob-smacking really,” he added.
Whitham’s team also ran the track riding experiences across the weekend, with 2024 Endurance World Champion, Linfoot bringing along his specially prepared Superpole PillionXperience Suzuki GSX-R1000R superbikes to take customers for five flying laps of the scenic course.
“I’ve had a really good time at Moto Fest. I know Anglesey really well, because we do a lot of trackdays here through the year,” Whitham added. “It’s good to see the place bouncing with people, different events going on, and actually it’s attracted a lot of different kinds of riders.
“You’ve got your adventure people, your naked people, some sportsbike riders – obviously trials enthusiasts – and I’ve really enjoyed it. I wish I’d had more time to look round because there’s plenty to look at.”
The roster of riders didn’t end there either, with former factory British Superbike rider and road racer Jenny Tinmouth appearing on stage alongside vastly experienced TV and movie stunt rider Rick English to discuss their involvement in the world of riding motorcycles for Hollywood productions.
