Expedia Group's B2B offering has been predominantly hotels. The online travel agency, which was founded more than 25 years ago, only recently began offering flights to B2B partners. Its strategy is to expand B2B into many more verticals.

There were several questions for Expedia Group officials during its second quarter earnings call Wednesday about competition in the B2B space, where it is the leading player, as Booking Holdings gears up to consolidate its fragmented, 3-brand offering.

What's clear from Expedia's second quarter announcement, which saw its B2B unit's revenue jump 23% year-over-year, is that it is continuing to invest to transition the product from predominantly a hotel offering to one that includes experiences, ground transport, flights, and trip protection.
