The Iraq Stock Exchange building in Baghdad
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — The Iraq Stock Exchange (ISX) recorded a sharp acceleration in trading volume during July 2026, with total shares traded jumping 54.9% month-on-month despite broader regional economic headwinds.
Official exchange data shows that 166.66 billion shares changed hands across 21 trading sessions, generating an aggregate turnover of 120.03 billion Iraqi Dinars ($91.6 million)—a 1.2% increase compared to June figures.
The ISX operates under the oversight of the Iraq Securities Commission (ISC), facilitating electronic trading for 125 listed companies through 38 licensed brokerage firms.
Banking and financial institution equities continued to dominate overall trading volume and liquidity during July, offsetting softer performance across industrial and hospitality counters as retail and institutional investors repositioned portfolios heading into the second half of the year.
