Martha Stewart is an icon, an entrepreneur, a skincare mogul —and our unlikeliest new source of hair color inspiration for summer. Rosé season is in full swing, so it’s no surprise that the queen of entertaining tapped Chris Appleton, celebrity hairstylist to the likes of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, to transform her signature blond bob into a rose-gold hue.

Stewart, who recently celebrated her 85th birthday, posed for a series of images with Appleton on Instagram and even filmed a TikTok lip-syncing to a clip from The Devil Wears Prada 2, her new hair color on gorgeous display. She paired the rosé hue with matching eyeshadow and blush, and a glossy pink lip, leaning into a monochrome hair-and-makeup vibe. With her face-framing layers curled softly away from her face and plenty of wavy texture, Stewart’s cut and color are going to inspire a new wave of copycat looks among women of all ages. After all, there is no age limit on having fun with your hair and makeup.

For the curious, Appleton shared his exact formula for getting Stewart’s new hair color in his Instagram caption. “For a rose gold formula, hi-lights BlondeMe 9+ 20vol, all lover gloss 9.5-19, and 9.5-5 rose gold base, clear 0-00,” writes the celebrity hairstylist. If that formula makes no sense to you, as it does to me, feel free to hand it over to your favorite hair colorist, and they’ll know what to do.

Stewart is no stranger to serving on social media. Last week, People asked her to comment on the famous selfie she took while in a pool: “The camera switched to selfie mode, and I thought, ‘I look good,’ so I snapped. And there I am, very sexy.”

This is far from Appleton’s first headline-making hair transformation as well. He shared a gallery of “sorbet shades” he’s done over the years on Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Grande on July 5.
