Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Iraq’s Parliamentary Finance Committee announced on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, that the nation’s cash reserves stand at 109 trillion Iraqi Dinars (approximately $83 billion), ensuring that public sector salaries and pensions are fully secured for at least 10 months despite regional financial pressures.

Committee member Mansour Al-Baiji stated to official state media that senior lawmakers met on Monday with Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi, Minister of Finance Faleh Al-Sari, and Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) Governor Nizar Nasir Hussein to evaluate the state’s liquidity and fiscal stability.

The announcement aims to reassure public sector workers following recent salary disbursement delays caused by severe crude export drops and liquidity constraints linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Al-Baiji emphasized that ongoing understandings between the Finance Committee, the Ministry of Finance, and the Central Bank have established proactive fiscal measures to maintain state liquidity, protect gold reserves, and stabilize the national currency.
