Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The al-Nasr Coalition, a political bloc led by former Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, has emphasized the importance of state sovereignty and rejected the notion of Iranian hegemony.

As a renowned Shiite leader who negotiated fierce regional conflicts throughout his tenure, al-Abadi has always rejected the idea that Iraq should serve as a less powerful ally for Iran.

Al-Abadi has publicly blamed Iranian political pressure for his failed attempt for a second term as prime minister. His coalition is fundamentally against classifying Iraq as a less powerful state or linking it to Iran’s regional conflicts.

The Al-Nasr Coalition’s fundamental principle is the absolute limitation of all weaponry to recognized state entities. This approach directly confronts the freedom of Iran-backed militias, which regularly operate outside of Iraq’s judicial and central government oversight.

Al-Abadi advocates for a balanced diplomatic approach. His coalition believes that Baghdad should maintain stable relations with both Washington and Tehran, while strongly insisting that neither country utilize Iraqi territory to resolve their disputes.

The coalition actively advocates for a strong, institutionalized, and national civil state. It believes that a structural and defensive mechanism capable of protecting Iraq from self-destruction and foreign intervention can be developed by strong domestic institutions and public confidence.
