From her best album era to whether or not she’s growing out her bangs , there’s always a lot of discourse around Taylor Swift. And while we’re still waiting with bated breath to catch a glimpse of the star in a wedding dress, her recent appearance and performance at the Grammy Museum had Bazaar editors asking one question: Is Taylor Swift still considered a blonde?
Our office likely hasn’t had this spirited a debate since the viral “ is the dress blue and black or white and gold? ” debacle. In fact, beauty director Jenna Rosenstein even took to her personal Instagram account to poll hundreds of her followers for an outside perspective. “Physically she’s brunette, but spiritually she’s blond,” one follower responded. “She’s blond only in my head,” said another. The final tally of votes came to around 60 percent brunette and 40 percent blond, which was roughly how Bazaar editors polled as well. But no matter which side you’re leaning toward regarding Swift’s current hair color, one thing’s for sure: It’s decidedly darker now than when fans were first introduced to the artist wearing honey-gold corkscrew curls on her self-titled album .
In my humble opinion, the singer has officially entered her brunette era (despite claims that the moody lighting at the Grammy Museum may have affected our perception of her true tone), and many of our pollsters agree. We’re fairly certain she’s not dyeing her hair brown, though we have seen Swift with brown hair before in music videos for “Wildest Dreams,” “Opalite,” and “You Belong With Me.” However, when it comes to whether Swift’s hair color is brown or blond—to borrow a phrase from her album Reputation —call it what you want.
