Scott Swann will make a wildcard appearance for TAG Honda in the British Superbike Championship next weekend at Assen.
Swann joins the team for a one-off appearance in the Netherlands following the departure of Charlie Nesbitt earlier this month.
The Northern Irishman competed in the superbike class in 2025 with the Send my Bag Honda by IWR team, securing a best result of 11 th on two occasions.
Despite an impressive campaign, Swann was left without a ride this year and returned to the Superstock class. He began his campaign on a privately run Honda but has since switched to BMW machinery thanks to support from SMR Performance. Swann is third in the championship with two victories to his name.
“Honestly, I absolutely can’t wait for Assen; I want to say a massive thank you to Rob, Tracy and Gary for thinking of me and giving me this opportunity,” Swann said. “It’s probably the coolest track on the BSB calendar and it’s definitely one of my favourites.
“When I was last there in 2025 I enjoyed one of my best races, I was battling with the likes of Josh Brookes, Lee Jackson, Glenn Irwin, some really experienced guys in the class and that definitely has me excited for going back there.
“I’m also delighted to go there and have the chance to work with one of the most established teams on the grid that have won races, been on the podium, finished high in the Championship and have an extremely positive name in the series. That’s a really exciting prospect for me, they’re professional and put their heart and soul into it.”
Swann finished 11 th in the torrential rain in Race One at Assen last season, before finishing Sunday’s races in 12 th and 16 th respectfully.
“After taking the sideway step back into Superstock for 2026, after what I thought was a strong rookie year in Superbike, my goal was to win races put myself in the window if any superbike teams needed someone to step in for a round, to help me get my foot back in the door for 2027,” Swann continued.
“I feel ready for it, I’m really excited, I don’t think I’m going to pull off any mad results, I just want to enjoy it. I know it’s going to be tough jumping to from a Superstock bike onto a Superbike, but I’m positive I can gel with the Honda, get faster each session, work well with the team and then see where we end up come the end of the weekend.
“I must say a massive thank you to SMR Performance for allowing me to do this, they have helped me so much since stepping in mid-year. I also must thank all my sponsors for their support as well; without them this wouldn’t have been possible.”
Swann will join the TAG Honda team for a one-day shakedown test at Donington Park before travelling to Assen.
