Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, will commence flights between Baghdad and Copenhagen on November 14, creating a new air connection between Iraq and Denmark as part of the airline’s European growth.
The twice-weekly service will begin in Muscat and travel from Baghdad to Copenhagen, with SalamAir acquiring fifth-freedom traffic privileges, allowing it to sell tickets between the Iraqi and Danish capitals.
This implies that passengers from Iraq may fly straight from Baghdad to Copenhagen without changing planes in Muscat; however, those from Oman will have to make the planned stop in Baghdad.
One-way Lite prices between Baghdad and Copenhagen will begin at OMR 99.99, or around $260, while Muscat-Copenhagen flights via Baghdad will begin with OMR 130.99, or approximately $340.
The new connection provides Baghdad with another direct access to Northern Europe, which might significantly benefit travel between Iraq and Denmark, as well as the larger Scandinavian market.
SalamAir’s Chief Commercial Officer, Steven Allen, confirmed Copenhagen as the airline’s ninth new destination for 2026, underscoring the airline’s rapid network development and concentration on financially potential and neglected countries.
SalamAir is establishing the Iraqi capital as an intermediary point in its developing network connecting Oman, Iraq, and Europe by expanding its current Baghdad business to Denmark.
SalamAir’s Copenhagen debut comes as it increases its operations in Iraq.
The airline has also announced a new Muscat-Erbil route starting on October 25, making Erbil its second Iraqi destination and strengthening the connection between Iraq, Oman, and SalamAir’s larger Asian network.
