Jason Lake has confirmed that Complexity has officially ceased operations after 23 years, with ownership of the organisation reverting to GameSquare .
Lake shared the news in a video posted to social media on September 23, 2026, closing the book on one of North American esports’ longest-running brands.
According to Lake, he and his team were unable to raise the capital needed to fully acquire Complexity from GameSquare while also competing at a tier-one level. Rather than let the organisation collapse abruptly, Lake opted to wind operations down in an orderly fashion.
