Cleartrip is going after the messy middle of Indian travel - the holiday package, a high-value market that remains largely offline even as flights and hotels have moved online.

Cleartrip, the Flipkart-owned online travel platform, on Monday announced its entry into holiday packages, bundling flights, hotels, activities, and transfers into itineraries that travelers can customize.

Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer — Air, told Skift India’s overall travel booking market stood at $75 billion-$80 billion, with holidays and packages accounting for about $20 billion. More than 90% of the holiday market remains fragmented, he said, with online penetration lagging even further behind.

“Holiday planning in India has always been an either-or: either you get a rigid package or you spend hours building it yourself,” Patwari said. “We think there’s a better way. Expert-built, traveler-controlled, and with someone available when you need them.”

Rather than selling fixed itineraries, the platform allows travelers to begin with an expert-curated package and then change hotels, flights, transfers, and activities. Its AI too
