Air bag vests for bikers are relatively new technology and have been unisex with no specific options available for women, until now. French motorcycle kit manufacturer Furygan have announced that they are releasing their Fury airbag vest in a ladies specific version with the Fury Lady.
So what does this really mean? Furygan say that the Fury Lady has been designed with female riders to help get a genuine ladies fit, tailored to a woman’s curves with the help of stretch side panels. This more snug, compression fit is designed to reduce organ movement in the event of an accident.
Housing much of the same technology as the Fury Airbag Evo , it’s got In&motion at the core with a CE Level 1 back protector. The ‘brain’ of the vest has five detection modes – Road, Track, Adventure, Adventure Race and Motocross.
These modes allow riders to choose the settings that best suit the type of riding that they do. Furygan claim that the time for the unit to detect and deploy is less than 0.6 seconds, so the air protection should be in place before any impact.
Protection is provided with air bladders across the neck, chest, spine and abdomen. These can be inflated five times before they are required to be checked over by Furygan. The inflator canister can be replaced by the rider themselves and is claimed to take less than a minute to do and costs around £85 each time.
The system should last up to 30 hours before requiring a two-hour recharge, so that’s one less thing to have to charge every ride.
The whole thing is ventilated with mesh to provide as much airflow as possible and to allow the vest to dry quickly. An additional mesh layer provides an insulative effect, helping to regulate temperature whether you’re riding in hot or cold conditions.
It’s FIM approved for all speed championships except MotoGP and JuniorGP and can be worn under a certified motorcycle jacket. The Fury Lady will be available in sizes small to double extra-large.
In the past there was very little women’s specific kit available and with so much more on offer for female riders it’s great to see that the newer airbag technology is now designed in a ladies specific variant.
Charlotte joined the MCN team as a Product Writer in February 2024. Growing up in a family of bikers, it was almost certain she would eventually ride herself, and she passed her test in July 2021. Though her early fascination with motorbikes was strong, her passion for horses initially took precedence, consuming much of her time and finances.Eventually, Charlotte transitioned from horseback riding to motorcycling, purchasing a Suzuki SV650s. Her collection grew to include a Honda CBR600RR, but an accident caused by faulty traffic lights led to the bike being written off and Charlotte sustaining some injuries. Undeterred, she returned to riding as soon as she recovered, continuing with her SV650s. Recently, she added an Aprilia RS660 to her garage, proudly continuing her journey as a dedicated biker.
