Kai Havertz, Arsenal striker, was named Man of the Match for his national team Germany against Curacao, which ended in a crushing 7 - 1 victory for the Germans today, Sunday, in the World Cup competition.
Havertz scored two goals, one of them from a penalty, to help launch a strong start for the 2014 world champions in their campaign in the tournament being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
FIFA announced on its official website that Havertz received the Man of the Match award after his strong performance in his national team's opening match in the World Cup, which comes in Group E along with Ecuador and Côte d'Ivoire.
Germany is chasing its first title in 12 years and aims to break the group stage curse that has plagued it in the last two editions of the tournament in 2018 and 2022.
