If you’re touring Wales, firstly, we commend you for a great choice of ride, and secondly, make sure you pop into Ann’s Kitchen en route. This café sits on the north coast of Wales, just off the expressway with its stunning sea views and not only promises a warm welcome, but is also filled with plenty of biking paraphernalia to make you feel right at home.
“We started the café together,” says Kaitlyn, daughter to the duo who own the venue, Tracey and Paul. “It started off with my dad and mum cooking for my dad’s auntie. Her name was Auntie Ann and her last name was Kitchen, so it fitted perfectly.
“Before we took it over, it was just a general café, but when we started out here, we definitely tried to get bikers to come and we did do bike nights too.”
Although there are now stacks of other bike nights in the area, riders are still encouraged to come along, as well as folks with big stomachs, because the eating challenge has proved very popular.

“We’ve had competitive eater Beard Meats Food come in for the Breakfast Challenge. That’s eight bacon, eight sausage, eight black pudding, eight fried bread, eight hash browns, eggs, mushrooms, toast, salted potatoes, beans and tomatoes. He failed that one!”
If you’re not quite that ravenous, there are rideouts, and even women’s bike nights, too.
A55 to the Menai Bridge then take the A545, B5109 and cruise to Llanddona. Turn right and follow the coast road onto the A5025. Follow to Bull Bay, plenty of castles to see, then continue before turning right to Holyhead. Get on the expressway, then left onto A4080 to Trac Mon, before carrying on back to the bridge.
MCN Reporter - Saffron's love for motorcycles began early, growing up surrounded by them and riding as soon as she turned 16. She pursued a BA in Creative Writing and Fine Art, followed by a Level 3 Diploma in Journalism from the NCTJ while gaining work experience at a local newspaper. Saffron's career includes various marketing roles in the automotive industry, but her passion for motorcycles led her to join MCN in April 2021. Since she joined, she has dabbled in off-road riding and track time, but touring remains her favourite hobby. Saffron, often seen traveling for features, rides a Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail when not working for MCN.
