The Roc Nation chief will perform at the event for the first time for next year’s Super Bowl LXI. The game takes place on February 14, Valentine’s Day, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. ESPN is televising the game for the first time, and, for the first time since 2006, ABC is also airing it. Check out Jay-Z’s teaser clip for the halftime show below.
Jay-Z has been the NFL’s live music entertainment strategist since 2019 and also operates as a producer with final say on the headliner. In 2024, asked if he would ever headline the show himself, he told Entertainment Tonight , “I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early. Maybe one year. Maybe.”
In a press release sent tonight announcing his billing, Jay-Z had this to say: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
Today’s announcement by Roc Nation follows last year’s Bad Bunny show , which drew vitriol from the far-right, including President Trump, and support from a huge swath of the music world and other politicians.
