Powderfinger ’s reunion odyssey is stretching out.

The beloved Australian rock band unveils an “Encore Run” of shows, nine in total, which will see their tour extend into December 2027.

Announced Friday morning (Oct. 30), this last wave of shows will see the Brisbane band play to new locations, including two nights at Cornelian Bay Oval, in Hobart, Tasmania and a show at Stage 88 in the nation’s capital, Canberra.

Also, their stadium-sized tent will be pitched at Melbourne Park Oval for two more nights, and Western Australians get two additional concerts at Sandalford Estate in Perth. Explore Powderfinger See latest videos, charts and news

The tour will end where it all began, with two concerts at the Brisbane Showgrounds, for what will be an “all Bris-band celebration and a tribute to their hometown,” reads a statement. As it stands, the national jaunt swells to 35 dates. But that’s not the end of it. “Adelaide fans, you haven’t been forgotten. Hang in there,” reads a statement from the band.

Across the Encore stretch, Powderfinger will supported by an all-Australian lineup including Ocean Alley, Violent Soho, The Living End, Ball Park Music, John Butler Trio, Something For Kate, Thelma Plum, DMA’S, You Am I, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, The Preatures, The Belair Lip Bombs and Luca Brasi, Full Flower Moon Band, South Summit, Carla Geneve, Banjo Lucia and Special Features.

It’ll be like the band never left. The initial batch of 26 shows — more than 300,000 tickets — sold out in days.

“When we saw how many people missed out on tickets, we knew we couldn’t leave it there,” comments Fanning on behalf of Powderfinger. “So we’re adding some final shows and we’ve been able to include dates in Hobart and Canberra, which we’re really excited about. We also have some very talented mates joining us. Thank you for keeping the faith and for being so patient. We can’t wait to see you out there.”

Hailing from Brisbane, the 2032 Olympic City, the ‘Finger, as they’re affectionately known in these parts, was one of the elite bands of their era, one that produced five consecutive ARIA No. 1 albums, 18 ARIA Awards and three APRA Awards, including a brace for song of the year.

The five-piece called time with a 34-date national trek back in 2010. The music never stopped. When triple j invited Australians to vote for the greatest homegrown songs of all time, for a countdown in July 2025, Powderfinger clocked up more songs in the top 100 (four, including a Fanning solo number) than any other act.
