Wynn is holding to its September 2027 date for the UAE’s first casino resort but it will now decide in February what form the opening takes. The U.S.-Iran war means its first customers may travel from down the road in Dubai and elsewhere in the UAE, rather than being the international guests it primarily wants.
Casino resort operator Wynn Resorts will likely decide in February precisely how to open its Ras Al Khaimah casino resort, CEO Craig Billings said on the company’s third-quarter earnings call on Thursday.
“We will make a decision about the format in which we open. And we’ll probably make that decision around February,” he said.
The $5.7 billion Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first integrated gaming resort, remains scheduled for an opening in September 2027. But Billings said the mix of source markets it ideally wants “does impact how we open.” He said that Wynn had “the playbooks for every single iteration of that today.”
Back in August, Wynn said it did not plan a staggered rollout. “We generally don’t do phased openings,” Billings then said. “We would open the doors and open all the amenities exactly as we would any other particular opening.”
