Parrilla , the Mexican restaurant in Ranelagh , Dublin 6 , has been added to the Michelin Guide .
Inspectors for Michelin said the outlet, run by Jules Mak, was “lively, loud and simply wonderful fun”.
“As soon as you arrive, it gives off ‘hottest ticket in town’ energy, combining a pumping soundtrack with a room full of smiles from the team and guests alike,” the guide says, advising diners to start with a margarita and ensure they do not miss the padron peppers with red pepper salsa.
Inclusion in the Michelin Guide does not equate to a star or Bib Gourmand, with these awarded at an annual ceremony held at the start of each year. It is instead an influential recommendation generally viewed as an important boost to a restaurant’s reputation.
Mak is a veteran of the Dublin restaurant trade, having started Mak in Ranelagh in 2012 and since establishing Wanderlust in Dalkey, Co Dublin, Hush in Rathmines, Dublin 6, Mak at Zozimus in Dublin 2 and, in 2024, Parrilla. He recently said he would close Mak and open Mediterranean-inspired Fuoco in its place.
The addition of Parrilla to the Michelin Guide brings to 53 the number of listed restaurants in and around Dublin.
