Elliot might be an adventurer, but in every new dungeon or biome, he'll have to take on a ton of different enemies. In this game, there are three ways to cause more damage to enemies: drinking an attack-boost potion, equipping powerful magicites, and having the highest-tier weapons you can find.
Every weapon (as well as the shield) has second- and third-tier upgrades. If you want to get your hands on them, below you learn where to find all the weapons in The Adventures of Elliot .

As expected from the first age in the game, you will mostly find tier-one weapons in the Age of Safekeeping. Both upgrades for Elliot's shield can be found in this area, but they are locked behind quest progression.
Complete the "A Spear with a Past" side quest. Talk to Euygene to start it.
Complete the "A Good Old Bow" quest. Talk to Leyka in the orphanage to start it.
Inside the dungeon, open the locked blue door to find the chest containing this weapon.
You obtain this shield as you progress in the campaign.
Complete the Adept's Trial, the third tier in the Temple of Trials to receive this shield. This tier only becomes available after having completed a portion of the true ending quest line.
Increases Faie's magic recovery speed by 50%
Restores Faie's magic when guarding with precision by 25%

In the Age of Reconstruction, you expand your arsenal of weapons with the bomb and first hammer, while becoming stronger due to the first second-tier weapons available in this age. It's important to keep in mind that you will need the Leytstaf sword from this age if you plan on completing all The Adventures of Elliot 's endings.
Complete the "Blow Your Troubles Away" side quest.
You find the chest containing this weapon at the end of the Southern Caves - Deser Exit. You explore the place during the campaign.
Open the large red chest inside the Eastern Caves, east of Whiterea.
It's inside a large red chest in the Doorway Ruins sublevel one. You need to move a mirror to redirect the light toward the gate and unlock the passage.
Open the blue door in the Water Ruin's sublevel two to find the chest containing this sword. This sword is necessary to complete some of the endings of the game, and may require progression towards the true ending to find.

The Age of Magic is where you can find most of your third- and second-tier weapons. Among them, only Judgment is locked behind the true ending quest line.
