CEO of the Food and Drug Authority Participates in the DIA GLOBAL Meeting

The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhi, participated in the annual global meeting of the Drug Information Association (DIA GLOBAL), held from June 14 to 18, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, with the attendance of heads of regulatory authorities from various countries around the world, along with leaders, decision-makers, experts, and specialists in the fields of pharmaceuticals, advanced technologies, and regulatory sciences. He emphasized during his participation in one of the meeting sessions titled "Challenges of Innovation and the Impact of Misaligned Regulatory Policies on Patient Services" the importance of employing artificial intelligence techniques in regulatory work to support the evaluation of therapeutic innovations and expedite access to them while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The CEO of the Food and Drug Authority discussed, during a roundtable meeting with several heads of global companies specializing in pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies and representatives from regulatory authorities in the USA, UK, Singapore, Japan, and Brazil, opportunities for collaboration and enhancing partnerships in research and innovation, as well as methods to benefit from experiences to enhance the efficiency of the pharmaceutical sector and the field of biotechnology and innovative therapies in the Kingdom. The meeting included several sessions and bilateral meetings with a number of heads and representatives of international regulatory authorities, focusing on a range of topics, especially related to the latest trends in advanced therapeutic technologies and discussing suitable regulatory models to deal with them, along with addressing the challenges facing pharmaceutical manufacturers, and the responsibilities of regulatory authorities in finding balanced regulatory solutions that support the research and innovation system. This participation solidifies the effective presence of the Authority in international forums and its growing role in global regulatory dialogue, developing a supportive regulatory environment for innovation, as well as expanding its network of partnerships with leading international entities and highlighting the advancement of the health system in the Kingdom to support the targets of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of Vision 2030. The DIA Global meeting is considered one of the most prominent international forums specialized in drug development and discussing future regulatory challenges, bringing together over 4,000 participants from regulatory authorities, pharmaceutical companies, and academic and research institutions from around the world.
