The summer edition of Steam Next Fest has arrived, bringing with it thousands of free demo offers on the platform. From June 15 to June 22, players can experience a huge array of limited-time demos for games from nearly every genre.
In fact, this year's list looks so massive that it can be more overwhelming than usual, and with only one week to try the games, players will have to make tough decisions on how to invest their time.
The June 2026 edition of Steam Next Fest may be the biggest yet, featuring thousands of games, making it practically impossible for anyone to try them all. However, there are some standout demos that shouldn’t be missed during this event.
Here are recommendations for games you shouldn't miss during June's Steam Next Fest.
I was drawn to the game Wilderings the moment I heard the phrase “Roguelite creature-collecting game,” and I was excited to try this upcoming title. Fortunately, the new Steam Next Fest demo gave me the chance to do just that. Wilderings combines tranquil and beautiful graphics with surprisingly deep combat mechanics. Like any Roguelike game, it requires challenge, and you’ll die a lot at the start; ask me how I know.
The open world is filled with corruption, and your task is to cure it with the help of your animal friends. From this angle, with some basic combat principles, it resembles Kena: Bridge of Spirits quite a bit, but the Roguelike card system and world-building give it a unique twist. The demo showcases the basics of combat and exploration and gives an idea of how to unlock new abilities and traverse the world. The game looks extremely promising and left me with a strong desire to see more of it. As of now, there’s no specific release date for Wilderings.
This farm simulation game with light-hearted mystery elements tops my favorite games list. The new Steam Next Fest demo offers players a chance to dive deeper into the core gameplay. You can start building your vampire farm, trying out mini-games like fishing and flower arranging, and so much more. If you’re as excited about this game as I am, the demo confirms that Moonlight Peaks is worth the wait.
Moonlight Peaks is set to launch on July 7, making this timing perfect for trying out the game and ensuring it meets your expectations before purchasing. The demo offers rich content that showcases much of what the full release will be like, and it’s also very cute… and a little bit spooky, but not too much.
I always look for a good story, well-crafted narratives, and thrilling plots in any video game, and I have no problem delving into competitive games with unique and exciting concepts.
