0 Twitter Telegram Whatsapp Facebook Marvel’s Wolverine is one of the most anticipated games for the second half of 2026, and it is the new work from Insomniac Studios, which has proven itself strongly through the Marvel’s Spider-Man series and its subsequent parts.
Last week, the developers published a new trailer that gave players the best look yet at the upcoming game. With several months remaining until Marvel’s Wolverine is released in September, this trailer has been meticulously analyzed by fans, as they tried to extract every possible detail from the scenes shown.
In addition to Debra Wilson, we can see several other mutants in the same scene. It's hard to identify the woman in leopard-print pants, but we might know the identity of the man wearing large orange glasses. Although Toad has not been a member of the Morlocks before, his appearance looks very close to it. However, some fans believe he could be Speedball, which seems a relatively more logical possibility.
Later, we see another shot of the mutants inside the truck with Leech and Callisto. The man in the purple suit appears to be Caliban, a mutant capable of tracking others of his kind. He has indeed been one of the original members of the Morlocks, so his appearance here is not surprising.
Another mutant with horns appears, and he seems to be Nature Girl, a character with nature-related abilities, making her an important ally in the Canadian wilderness.
This reference is mainly directed at long-time Wolverine fans in the comics. In a shot near the end of the trailer, we see a scene that clearly reflects the cover of the Weapon X series. Logan is depicted lifting one of the Reavers with one hand while attacking another with the other hand.
Old fans will recognize this scene as a direct reference to the cover of the third edition of Weapon X by Barry Windsor-Smith, which shows Wolverine over a large number of corpses. Although the game does not literally recreate the scene, it offers a clear homage to it.
This makes sense, as Marvel’s Wolverine showcases part of Logan's origins, so it is natural to draw inspiration from one of the most famous and best origin stories in the Marvel universe.
I always look for a good story, a well-crafted scenario, and an exciting dramatic plot in any video game, and I have no problem with competitive games that have innovative and exciting ideas.
