Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Abu Dhabi-based AD Ports Group has inaugurated a new integrated logistics service linking the UAE’s Khalifa Port with Iraq’s Umm Qasr Port, which is anticipated to bolster economic relations and ease cargo transit between Iraq and the region.

The service provides a weekly direct shipping lane for container and roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) goods, enabling a speedier and more efficient commercial corridor between the two nations.

The expansion is expected to enhance the role of Iraq's principal seaport, Umm Qasr, and to increase imports, exports, and regional transit commerce.

The new route will also provide better access to markets throughout the Gulf, Türkiye, Europe and the entire Middle East.

AD Ports Group has developed logistical capabilities at Khalifa Port and Umm Qasr to enable cargo storage, handling, and transportation, helping to enhance supply chain efficiency and operational performance, it said.

The inauguration comes as Iraq continues its attempts to modernise its transport and logistics infrastructure, attract investment, and boost its position as a regional commerce center connecting the Gulf with neighboring countries.

The new link is also intended to provide companies with more trading and shipping choices, as well as boost expanding commercial relations between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, one of Baghdad’s key economic allies in the Gulf.
