David Gaider, the former writer at BioWare and developer of the Dragon Age series, warned about the increasing use of artificial intelligence in game development, noting that excessive reliance on it could make the development process extremely frustrating due to the unpredictability of results and the difficulty in understanding or correcting its outputs.
Gaider added that removing simple tasks relied upon by novice developers could harm the future of the industry, as they represent essential steps for learning and gaining experience. He questioned, saying: "How will we train the next generation of developers if we remove all the beginner tasks?" stressing that AI could be useful as an assistant only, but it is not ready to replace core creative work.
