The head of the Union of Tourist Syndicates and the President of the Hotel Owners Syndicate in Lebanon, Pierre Achkar, made a call today to Lebanese expatriates, especially those residing in the Gulf countries, Europe, and Africa, to come to Lebanon and spend the summer vacation in its lands, aiming to save the tourist season and the tourist institutions and their workers, and to support the national economy. He pointed out in this context that it is currently difficult to rely on a large influx of expatriates residing in distant areas such as Australia, Canada, the United States, and Latin America, because most of them canceled their bookings and arranged their holiday in other destinations.
Achkar's call came in conjunction with the ongoing efforts to reach a final ceasefire, and with the relatively stable return to the south, while other Lebanese regions live normally, where a high pace of summer activities of various kinds has started to be recorded.
Achkar noted that although no agreement has yet been reached with Israel to end the war, the understandings reached earlier confirmed the neutralization of the capital and Beirut Airport, which we witnessed during the past period, allowing life to return to normal in the capital.
