From DC and Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the first part of the trilogy premiered Tuesday at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall is set to be released later this year. The film, directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams, adapts the DC Comics storyline written by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O'Neil, Peter David, Joe Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balent. Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall features the voices of Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) as Batman / Bruce Wayne, Michael Mando (Spider-Man: Brave New Day) as Bane, and Pablo Schreiber (Halo) as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael. The official synopsis for the first part states: "When the mysterious giant known as Bane releases all of Batman's enemies from Arkham Asylum, the Dark Knight is pushed to his mental and physical limits." Rick Morales serves as supervising producer alongside producers Jim Craig and Kimberly S. Moro, while Sam Register and Michael Uslan serve as executive producers. Batman: Knightfall ranked 15th on IGN's list of the 27 best Batman comics and graphic novels. Elements from Batman: Knightfall appeared in Christopher Nolan's film The Dark Knight Rises, where Bane, portrayed by Tom Hardy, breaks Batman's back and takes control of Gotham City. Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall was announced at New York Comic Con 2025.
