It seems that the only winner in May was Nintendo, with the Switch 2 continuing to achieve record performance. Matt Piscatella, an analyst at Circana, revealed that PlayStation sales in May were the worst for the brand in that month in 25 years!
PlayStation 5 sales saw a decline of 58% with a 43% drop in spending on the platform. Despite the weak performance of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series during this month, the Switch 2 was able to compensate for that, as sales during the month grew by 38% compared to the same period last year!
Hardware – PlayStation hardware unit sales fell to their lowest May total since May 2000, while Xbox hardware unit sales were the lowest ever recorded for a May month.
