UK-based helmet brand Ruroc teased punters at ABR (Adventure Bike Rider) Festival last weekend with prototype examples of a new adventure helmet they hope to be bringing to the market early next year.
The prototype helmets were on display at the Ruroc stand for people to have an initial look at, touch, feel and try on.
“The reception at ABR was incredibly positive,” said Anna Cipullo, Brand Manager at Ruroc. “People really connected with the helmet’s styling, the plush interior, and the safety tech innovations, but what generated the most excitement was the versatility.”
The new lid had additional ventilation ports at the front and either side of the usual Ruroc chin vents, for additional airflow when riding on the dirt. The rear featured a small spoiler and air exhaust points.
There is, of course, a peak fitted to the helmet with small cut-outs likely to reduce drag when riding, but the main area is solid, perhaps to provide better sun shade. It appears to be removable via adjusters and fixings on either side, too.
The displayed prototypes were shown with both a visor fitted and with goggles which appear to sit held in place under the peak.
Ruroc were keen to receive feedback from attendees of the event, with engineers engaging with people across the weekend. They had a poll of a few design ideas too, where people could vote for their favourite proposed designs.
For now Ruroc are keeping much of the details under wraps, with no hint of a name, price or date as of yet. They have only told MCN that they hope for a 2027 release.
Moving into the growing adventure market seems a very logical choice for Ruroc. With adventure and touring taking up a huge chunk of motorcycle sales, being able to offer another helmet option to this category is an obvious move.
Charlotte joined the MCN team as a Product Writer in February 2024. Growing up in a family of bikers, it was almost certain she would eventually ride herself, and she passed her test in July 2021. Though her early fascination with motorbikes was strong, her passion for horses initially took precedence, consuming much of her time and finances.Eventually, Charlotte transitioned from horseback riding to motorcycling, purchasing a Suzuki SV650s. Her collection grew to include a Honda CBR600RR, but an accident caused by faulty traffic lights led to the bike being written off and Charlotte sustaining some injuries. Undeterred, she returned to riding as soon as she recovered, continuing with her SV650s. Recently, she added an Aprilia RS660 to her garage, proudly continuing her journey as a dedicated biker.
