Fiery Rumor: Halo May Be Managed by the Creators of Call of Duty!

Will Activision save the Halo series from decline?

0 Twitter Telegram Whatsapp Facebook The Halo series may undergo a radical change in how it is managed in the future, and some oversight powers may even shift to Activision, the owner of the Call of Duty series, according to a new rumor reported by a reliable source in the leaks world.

This information came from well-known journalist Jez Corden of Windows Central during a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, where he mentioned that he heard this proposal from his own sources within the industry.

At approximately 2:32:41 into the episode, Corden said:

“I heard a crazy rumor that Microsoft might put Halo under Activision’s management... I don’t believe it right now, but if it happens, you heard it here first... This kind of thinking is what is being considered right now, like: how do we restructure Halo to actually reach its full potential?”

Although Corden made it clear that this information should be handled with extreme caution, the mere proposal of the idea opened the door wide for speculation about the future of the series.

It is no secret that Microsoft has been trying for years to revive Halo after its noticeable decline since Bungie's departure, as the series has been unable to regain its full luster despite repeated attempts.

Previous reports indicate that the new CEO of the Xbox division, Asha Sharma, wants to restructure the company's strategy by focusing on big titles like Halo and Fallout, making the idea of redistributing responsibilities within Microsoft’s entertainment family not entirely out of the question.

Currently, the series is managed by Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries), which has recently restructured to become more of an “identity steward” rather than the sole developer, which is a model similar to that of World’s Edge studio with the Age of Empires series.

If Activision comes into the fray, it could open the door for giant studios like Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games — with their extensive experience in shooting games — to contribute to the development of future installments of Halo, potentially giving the series a new creative boost.

However, the most important question remains: Will Microsoft actually be willing to divert some of its resources away from Call of Duty in favor of Halo?

So far, there is no clear answer, and amid rumors and speculation, the only confirmed truth is that the future of Halo remains open to all possibilities.

I have loved video games since the days of the family console, and I prefer adventure games like Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed (before the shift to RPG). I have no bias towards any home console; the best one for me is the one that offers the most standout games. What matters to me are experiences with captivating storytelling, as the story is the foundation of enjoyment more than gameplay.
