King Abdulaziz Foundation Enhances Digital Access to Historical Content through the "Open Access" Service

The King Abdulaziz Foundation continues its efforts to enhance access to historical and scientific knowledge through the "Open Access" service, which is one of its paths for making knowledge content available and expanding the circle of benefit from specialized scientific and documentary publications through digital platforms.

The service allows researchers and interested individuals to have free and immediate access to a range of digital books, journals, and scientific publications, with the ability to download available materials, thus facilitating access to content related to the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab and Islamic worlds, and supporting researchers, students, and those interested in reliable historical sources.

The service also includes making a number of books and scientific publications available through the Foundation's online store according to the open access approach, allowing researchers and readers to browse scientific materials and benefit from them directly through the Foundation's digital platforms, without needing to traditional access to printed sources.

Additionally, the service contributes to supporting the movement of scientific research by providing specialized content in the fields of history, documents, and humanities, and allowing access to diverse scientific materials including historical studies, scientific records, research investigations, and publications related to the history of the Saudi state and its scientific and intellectual figures.

Among the publications that the King Abdulaziz Foundation recently made available through the "Open Access" service is the book "The Scientific Record of the Seminar on Hussein bin Abi Bakr bin Ghanam", which discusses the figure of the historian Hussein bin Ghanam, one of the earliest historians of the Saudi state, and author of the book "Rawdat al-Afkar wal-Afham", which is considered one of the most prominent historical sources documenting the events of the establishment of the Saudi state. The book presents multiple aspects of Ibn Ghanam's scholarly and literary personality, his methodology in documenting history, his contributions to writing and authorship, and his role in documenting the early stages of the history of the Saudi state, along with associated political, scientific, and social transformations.

The Foundation's online store currently displays (50) scientific and historical publications in digital formats, including specialized books in the fields of history and humanities, enabling researchers and interested individuals to access reliable knowledge content, and enhancing the presence of historical Saudi publications in the modern digital environment.

The "Open Access" service also works to enhance the utilization of scientific and historical content through digital solutions that keep pace with developments in electronic publishing, contributing to building a more open and accessible knowledge environment, and facilitating access to it inside and outside the Kingdom through the Foundation's digital platform, which allows access to digital scientific publications and materials at any time and from anywhere.
