The Future of Ghostrunner 3 is Uncertain... and the Final Decision is in the Hands of 505 Games!

Napoleon leads the end of the world in Valor Mortis.

0 Twitter Telegram Whatsapp Facebook One More Level is currently working on a new game titled Valor Mortis, which is a first-person experience in the style of Souls-like games, set in an alternate timeline where Napoleon Bonaparte has begun dabbling in the arts of magic and the supernatural.

In this dark world, you play as a soldier who fell in battle and was brought back to life, tasked with an almost impossible mission: to stop Napoleon and his armies of the undead, alongside confronting a deadly plague ravaging the world around you. While the concept seems promising so far, it represents a radical shift from the fast-paced, adrenaline-filled style of the Ghostrunner series.

For fans of that fast-paced experience, there is news that might spark excitement; the studio head and CEO Szymon Bryła stated to Insider Gaming that the idea of developing Ghostrunner 3 would be “very amazing.” He added that the team already has some ideas that could fit an ending worthy of the trilogy or even a new spin-off.

But the excitement here meets reality, as the matter does not entirely return to the studio. Bryła clarified that the final decision rests with 505 Games, the rights holder for the series, which has the final word on the future of the title.

Ghostrunner 2 was released in October 2023 and received generally positive reviews, although sales figures remain unclear. However, it managed to generate revenue of $6 million in just the first five days, with a budget exceeding $4 million, making its commercial performance relatively noteworthy. With the story's end leaving the door open, there seems to be ample room to explore more of this world in the future.

As for Valor Mortis, it is set to be released on October 13 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, after being postponed from its previous date of September 24. This delay was due to the crowded release schedule, alongside the team’s desire to enhance the experience based on feedback from the recent beta version that included the first seven chapters of the game. Despite some criticisms, the demo achieved significant success during the Steam Next Fest events, to the extent that its availability period was extended until July 7.

I have loved video games since the days of the family console, and I prefer adventure games like Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed (before the shift to RPGs), I have no bias towards any home console; for me, the best is the one that offers the most distinctive games. What matters to me is the experiences with compelling storytelling, as the story is the core of enjoyment more than gameplay.
