Scott Redding has closed the gap in the British Superbike Championship after securing his third victory of the season in a dramatic Sprint race at Snetterton.
Kyle Ryde was penalised following a controversial clash with Bradley Ray at turn one on lap 10. The latter went down the inside of Ryde at the final corner, however Ryde used the strengths of the Ducati to pull back alongside and then narrowly ahead of Ray as the pair headed into turn one.
However, as they entered the corner, their bikes touched, causing Ray to crash. Whilst a furious Ray sat by the side of the circuit, Ryde was deemed by Race Direction to have caused the collision and was handed a long lap penalty.
However, Ryde, who only had one lap to take his punishment, didn’t enter the long lap penalty route and and as a result the penalty was converted to a time penalty. Ryde crossed the line in second behind Redding, however dropped behind Max Cook following his three-second penalty.
