Control Resonant Game Features Optional Bosses and Doesn't Force You to Defeat All Bosses

0 Twitter Telegram Whatsapp Facebook Although it is the direct sequel to the highly successful Control game released in 2019, there is a reason the new game does not carry the name Control 2.

According to game director Mikael Kasurinen, the name Control Resonant is linked to a mysterious phenomenon known as resonance, which precedes the supernatural disaster striking Manhattan. But that’s not the only reason, as the name also signifies the formidable enemies known as Resonants, which Dylan Faden will face during his journey.

In a quick interview with MinnMax, Kasurinen revealed that players will not be forced to defeat all Resonant bosses.

He clarified that many of them are completely optional, and can be faced in any order the player chooses, a design inspired by the Mega Man series, where defeating each boss grants you their special abilities to use later.

Not only that, but he also pointed out that some of these bosses have tragic stories and human backgrounds worth discovering, adding a narrative depth to the encounters rather than just being traditional battles.

One of the most surprising revelations from Kasurinen is that the story will not revolve around saving Jesse Faden or saving Manhattan, as many might expect.

Instead, the core concept revolves around regaining control of your life, in a direction that seems more personal and deeper than the events of the first part.

He added that the middle of the game will contain the biggest plot twist, without providing any additional details, promising players a moment that will change their perspective on the events.

The game director also confirmed that the explorable areas are much larger than players might expect, but the world will not be fully unlocked from the start; it will gradually expand as you progress through the adventure.

He indicated that the city is designed in a way that makes getting lost a real possibility, yet the game provides a map that gives players a strategic view to help them navigate and explore different areas.

As the release date of Control Resonant approaches on September 24, Kasurinen was asked whether Remedy is concerned about the crowded month of September with major releases.

He admitted that the launch of Onimusha: Way of the Sword during the same period is a minor concern, but he confirmed at the same time that the studio does not intend to change the game's release date, and the plan remains to release it on September 24 as scheduled.

We also learned that Control Resonant is longer than the first part.

I have loved video games since the days of the family console, and I prefer adventure games like Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed (before turning to RPG), I have no bias towards any home console; for me, the best is the one that offers the most distinctive games. What matters to me are the experiences with engaging storytelling, as the story is the foundation of enjoyment more than gameplay.
