Dwayne Johnson Mocks His Wig Memes in Live-Action Moana

You may have seen one of the memes mocking the wig worn by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the live-action version of Moana, as one of the memes stated: "The wig deserves a mention in the film's credits", while another said: "Everyone in the Moana show is fighting for their lives... meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson's wig is fighting gravity, the winds, and even its contractual obligations." Even the satirical singer Weird Al Yankovic, who has long, curly hair, joined in the jest by saying: "We told all the casting agents that the second part of Weird Al's biography is currently on hold, but they keep sending headshots of actors." As for Johnson, he took it in stride and told Variety that those memes made him "laugh out loud". Johnson added: "They made memes of me, the internet did what it always does, it was very, very funny, but I said to myself: it's okay, just watch the movie, wait until you see it, this is part of Maui's superpower, and everything will be fine." Johnson returns to portray the beloved demigod Maui in the live-action version, and Maui's long, flowing hair is one of his most prominent features, alongside his tattoos and muscles, but Johnson is naturally bald, and with the exclusion of using completely generated hair via CGI, the production team had no choice but to resort to a wig.
