Investigation by Amnesty International on Lebanon: Call to Ban Arms Supplies to Israel!

Amnesty International revealed that "Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed 24 civilians in just one week, including 12 children, in attacks that constitute war crimes."

The organization emphasized in its report that "the investigations it conducted focused on three separate Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the annihilation of three entire Lebanese families, in tragic scenes reflecting the brutality of war and its consequences on civilians."

It stated: "On March 6, an Israeli airstrike destroyed the home of the Salih family in the city of Tyre, where the head of the household, Hussain, had left the house to buy breakfast supplies, and upon returning found his home turned to rubble, losing 8 family members, including three children. He later said he spent three days collecting the remains of his loved ones, adding, 'There was no trace of the house, no walls or stones. My daughter Sara was everything to me.' Six days later, the village of Irkay witnessed a similar tragedy, where an Israeli bombardment targeted the home of the Taqi family, resulting in the death of Muhammad Taqi, who lost his four daughters: Zainab (14 years), Zahra (12 years), Malika (9 years), and Yasmina (6 years), along with his parents, brother, sister’s husband, and nephew (12 years old). Muhammad stated he found Yasmina breathing, but she later succumbed, while no trace of Zainab and Zahra was found except for remains after days."

The organization added: "The next day, another family was completely wiped out in Nabatieh when an Israeli bombardment targeted the home of Qais Basmah, who, along with his wife Blandin and their four children (Hassan, Hussein, Abbas, and Helen), aged between 7 and 16 years, lost their lives, in addition to a neighbor. A relative of the family reported that Qais was a painter struggling to support his family, adding that an entire family vanished, as if it never existed."

Amnesty International called on "the international community to take immediate action and impose a comprehensive ban on arms supplies to Israel," demanding that "the Lebanese authorities grant the International Criminal Court jurisdiction to investigate these crimes and prosecute the perpetrators," emphasizing the "need to immediately end the cycle of impunity."
