You’d struggle to find a more idyllic setting – MotoCamp is surrounded by great riding routes both on and off the tarmac. You’ll need to book via the website but it’s so worth it
Steph Jeavons is a legend – having become the first woman to ride in the Antarctic – but closer to home, she has set up something pretty special. Looking for somewhere to stay in Wales? Somewhere full of the spirit of adventure? MotoCamp is the place.
“This is the perfect location for road and trail riding – we’re really lucky,” says Jeavons. “It’s an old golf course – well, it was for 100 years until we came along! The club has been converted into lodges, and we’ve got three pods as well.”
Downstairs there is a kitchen and chill-out zone
Downstairs, there is a snug and a kitchen so you can make yourself hot meals throughout the day, and along with the lodges and pods, there are camping spots.
But it’s more than just somewhere to stay – with honesty bars, events and even tours around Wales, the most recent addition being the gastro tour where riders can travel to some of the finest eating spots in the country.
MotoCamp’s snug lodges will keep you comfortable
“When I finished travelling, I wanted to find a place to live in Wales where I could take people trail riding, give them good coffee, but I never dreamed of it being this cool! We have a love of nature here as well as motorbikes, and we try to blend the two beautifully.”
On the grounds are free-range chickens, dogs and even a couple of goats. With a relaxed vibe, the whole of wild Wales around you, plus some fabulous riding on and off the road, it’s the perfect pit stop.
Head west on the A496 to Barmouth and follow the coast. Left towards Porthmadog, then hop on the A497. Follow to A499 and take the coast road to Aberdaron. Take the B4413. Saffron's career includes various marketing roles in the automotive industry, but her passion for motorcycles led her to join MCN in April 2021. Since she joined, she has dabbled in off-road riding and track time, but touring remains her favourite hobby.
