Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has resumed flights to Iraq, signaling another indicator of regional air travel’s resurgence after months of interruption due to the Middle East turmoil.
The airline said that flights between Antalya and Erbil would resume on July 15, running twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The route is part of a larger relaunch of Middle Eastern operations after many routes were briefly halted owing to regional security concerns.
SunExpress’s comeback contributes to the ongoing rebuilding of Iraq’s international aviation industry, with airlines progressively resuming flights as regional airspace stabilizes.
Recently, airlines such as Turkish Airlines have extended their routes to Iraq, indicating renewed confidence in demand for both business and leisure travel.
SunExpress is restarting flights to Dubai, Beirut, and Bahrain, as well as opening new routes to Aleppo, Syria, as part of its Middle East network expansion.
The airline said the revised timetable aims to improve connections between Turkey and the region, helping tourism, commerce, and business travel once international flight operations resume.
