Bethesda suffered a significant blow due to the recent wave of Xbox layoffs, affecting both Bethesda Game Studios, the developers of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, and id Software, the developer of Doom, along with ZeniMax Online Studios, the developer of The Elder Scrolls Online, among other departments within the company. More on this topic Microsoft is considering canceling Marvel's Blade and shutting down Arkane Studios, and a WARN Act document issued in Maryland shows that 213 employees were laid off from ZeniMax Online Studios in Coxsville, Maryland, and 166 employees from ZeniMax Media Inc. in Rockville, Maryland, bringing the total to 379 employees. Additionally, 96 employees were laid off from id Software in Richardson, Texas, along with another 40 remote positions. While it’s difficult to identify the projects those affected employees were working on at these studios due to shared development teams across various Bethesda locations, the WARN numbers alone reflect the magnitude of the hit the company has taken.
