While Rhaenyra is busy trying to solidify her rule and making what she sees as fair decisions, new characters emerge and other pieces move on the board to prove that the conflict is no longer limited to the Targaryens alone, as small decisions become more dangerous than major battles, because their effects may not show immediately, but they plant the seeds of upcoming disasters. The name of the town of Tumbleton returns to the forefront this episode that bears its name, as Ormond reveals his true cunning when he takes control of the city and makes its inhabitants part of his defenses. His soldiers spread within the homes of the locals, forcing the residents to work to serve the army, turning the whole city into a human shield that makes attacking it by dragons more complicated.
